Our national player Zeynep Sönmez, who made history at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the season held in London, the capital of England, exited the tournament in the third round.

President of the Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF), Şafak Müderrisgil, said that it is a source of pride to witness Turkish tennis rising at one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments through the success of Zeynep Sönmez.

Competing in the main draw of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, for the first time, our national player Zeynep Sönmez made history by becoming the first Turkish player ever to reach the third round of a Grand Slam singles event. Today, Zeynep also claimed her first Grand Slam victory in doubles by winning her doubles match.

The final matches of the Tennis Europe Summer Cups Qualifiers were held at the Gaziantep Mehmet Şimşek Tennis Complex, which hosted the event from 25 to 27 June. The tournament brought together 30 players from 8 countries. Turkish 14&U Girls’ and Boys’ National Teams finished at the top of their groups and secured the right to compete in the Summer Cups

The 14&U European Summer Cups Qualifying event kicked off today with an opening ceremony at the Gaziantep Mehmet Şimşek Tennis Complex. The draw for the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Play-Offs was held on Thursday, 19 June, at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) headquarters in London. The Play-Offs will take place from 14 to 16 November 2025, in seven group events, each consisting of three teams.
