Ahmet Kaplan Advances to the Final at Roland Garros
Ahmet Kaplan has achieved a historic success by advancing to the final in the Wheelchair Tennis Quad category at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.
Facing the world number 2 and the tournament's number 1 seed, Dutch player Sam Schröder—who holds a total of 18 Grand Slam titles, including 7 in singles and 11 in doubles—in the semifinal match, Ahmet Kaplan defeated his opponent with sets of 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to advance to the final.
With this result, Ahmet Kaplan went down in Turkish tennis history as the first Turkish tennis player ever to advance to a singles final in wheelchair tennis in the history of Roland Garros.
Writing his name into Turkish tennis history with this historic milestone achieved in Paris, our national tennis player will face the tournament's number 2 seed, Niels Vink, in the Roland Garros Quad Singles Final on Saturday, June 6.
We congratulate Ahmet Kaplan, who has brought immense pride to our country with this monumental achievement at the Grand Slam level, and wish him the best of luck in the Roland Garros final.
