David Jorda Sanchis Becomes the Haier Bosphorus Challenger Cup Champion
The singles champion of the Haier Bosphorus Challenger Cup,
organized by the Turkish Tennis Federation between May 18–23, 2026, at the TTF
Istanbul Tennis Training Center, is David Jorda Sanchis.
The singles final of the ATP Challenger 75 level tournament,
which featured 74 tennis players from 26 countries, witnessed a showdown
between the tournament's number 3 seed, Andrej Nedic, and David Jorda Sanchis.
In a match that lasted 1 hour and 44 minutes, David Jorda
Sanchis defeated Andrej Nedic—who had reached the final without dropping a
single set throughout the tournament—with a score of 6-4, 6-4 to claim the
championship title at the Haier Bosphorus Challenger Cup. With this result, the
Spanish tennis player captured the first ATP Challenger level title of his
career.
At the ceremony held after the Haier Bosphorus Challenger
Cup singles final, the trophies were presented to the athletes by Turkish
Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil and Haier Europe General
Manager for Türkiye, Southern Europe, and Emerging Markets, Gözde Küçükyılmaz.
Plaques were also presented to individuals who contributed
to the realization of the tournament. TTF Board Member İsmail Hakkı Kurt
presented plaques to Supervisor Jaime Chavez and Chief Umpire İlker Ört; TTF
Board Member Prof. Dr. Esra Hatipoğlu to Chief of Umpires Mehmet Ali Akyüz and
the Chair Umpire of the final match, Karim Guerfi; and TTF General Secretary
Şeniz Büyükakgül presented a plaque to Tournament Director Melis Yafe.
In the doubles category, the American tandem of George
Goldhoff and Theodore Winegar lifted the trophy. Defeating the duo of Filip
Duda and Stefan Latinovic 7-5, 6-2, the pair of Goldhoff and Winegar captured
their first ATP Challenger doubles title in Istanbul.
As the first ATP Challenger tournament organized at the TTF
Istanbul Tennis Training Center, the Haier Bosphorus Challenger Cup hosted
prominent names of world tennis in Istanbul for a week, while providing tennis
enthusiasts with top-tier match excitement.
