Turkey Sweeps Mexico 5–0 in Davis Cup Series
In the Davis Cup World Group I Play-Off tie hosted by TED Sports Club, Turkey defeated Mexico 5–0 to earn promotion to World Group I.
Having ended the first day of the series with a 2–0 lead over Mexico, the Turkish Men’s National Team began the second day with the doubles match. Yankı Erel and Ergi Kırkın defeated the Mexican duo Daniel Moreno and Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, increasing the series score to 3–0 and securing Türkiye’s place in World Group I. In the fourth match, 18-year-old Atakan Karahan took to the court for his Davis Cup debut and beat Rafael Alfonso De Alba Valdes 6-3, 6-3 to make it 4–0. In the final match, Mert Naci Türker, also playing his first Davis Cup match, defeated Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice 6-1, 6-2, sealing the series with a dominant 5–0 victory.
Our national team will compete in the World Group I tie in September to advance to the Qualifiers group.
