Turkey Leads 2–0 After First Day of Davis Cup Tie Against Mexico
Turkey ended the first day of the Davis Cup World Group I Play-Off series, hosted by TED Sports Club, with a 2–0 lead.
In the opening match of the series, world No. 303 Ergi Kırkın faced world No. 658 Alex Hernandez. After a four-hour battle, Ergi Kırkın defeated Hernandez 7-5, 5-7, 7-5, giving Türkiye a 1–0 lead.
In the second match, Turkish player Yankı Erel, ranked 466th, played against world No. 371 Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez. Erel secured a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 victory, increasing Türkiye's lead to 2–0 in the series.
The series will resume on Sunday, 2 February, with the doubles match starting at 11:00 a.m.
