In order to accelerate the development of the sport of padel in Türkiye and strengthen international collaborations, the President of the Türkiye Tennis Federation (TTF), Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil, held a series of high-level talks in Madrid with the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the European Padel Federation (Padel Europe).

Türkiye Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil met with the President of the International Padel Federation (FIP) Luigi Carraro, the President of Padel Europe Ramon Morcillo Valle, and the President of the Spanish Padel Federation Javier Rodríguez Piris in Madrid.

The meetings were hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Madrid, Ms. Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, at the Madrid Embassy Residence. During the meetings, current and potential areas of cooperation between the Türkiye Tennis Federation and international and European padel authorities were discussed comprehensively.

Cooperation with FIP and Tournament Planning
During the meetings held with the International Padel Federation, current developments in world and European padel were evaluated, while education and seminar programs, technical collaborations, and organizational planning were discussed. In this context, three FIP tournaments planned to be held in Türkiye in 2026 were deliberated.

Joint Working Areas with Padel Europe
In the talks held with Padel Europe, mutual cooperation opportunities, education and seminar programs, friendly tournaments, and possible joint projects were addressed. The parties expressed a consensus on the popularization and sustainable development of padel across Europe.

Cooperation Consultations with the Spanish Padel Federation
Within the scope of the visit, during the meeting held between the Türkiye Tennis Federation and the Spanish Padel Federation on February 2, 2026, cooperation opportunities were evaluated under the headings of coach education and certification, refereeing and assignment, infrastructure and high-performance development, corporate and administrative support, as well as events and organizations.

Development of Turkish Padel through Strategic Collaborations
Emphasizing that the Madrid talks bear strategic importance for Turkish padel, Türkiye Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil stated that the contacts established with federations at the international and European levels have strengthened Türkiye’s padel vision.

Stating that these meetings will lay the groundwork for sharing knowledge and experience in many areas, particularly in coach education, refereeing, infrastructure, and high performance, Ms. Müderrisgil expressed that this will contribute to the sustainable development of padel in Türkiye.

President Ms. Müderrisgil said:

"Türkiye, with its strong sports infrastructure, increasing organizational experience, and young population, has a great potential for padel. Through these contacts we are conducting with international federations, we aim to deliver padel to wider audiences in our country and make Türkiye a regional padel hub."

Evaluations from International Padel Federations
International Padel Federation (FIP) President Luigi Carraro used the following expressions in his evaluation regarding the meetings held in Madrid:

"I was very pleased to meet with the President of the Türkiye Tennis Federation and the esteemed Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Madrid. These meetings were extremely valuable in terms of supporting the development of padel in Türkiye and internationally, and strengthening our cooperation. Furthermore, following the success padel achieved at the 2023 Krakow European Games, we have once again reaffirmed our joint intention for the European Games to be held in Istanbul in 2027."

President of the European Padel Federation, Ramon Morcillo Valle, expressed his satisfaction with the contacts carried out with the Türkiye Tennis Federation, stating:

"Both institutions share common goals and a strong will to develop padel."

A Strong Example of Sports Diplomacy
The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Madrid, Ms. Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, drew attention to the role of sports in international relations and made the following evaluation:

"Sports diplomacy has today become an important element of relations between countries. I consider it an important part of my duty to support all branches of sports, which bring peoples together and unite them around common goals. Specifically regarding padel, I believe that the contacts to be made with Spain will yield positive results both in terms of the development of infrastructure and the access to sports for individuals of all age groups."
