Consecutive Semifinal Success from Ahmet Kaplan at the Australian Open

Competing in the Australian Open Wheelchair Championships, one of the most prestigious events in wheelchair tennis, our national athlete Ahmet Kaplan inscribed his name among the final four once again with his outstanding performance.

Facing world number 6 Andy Lapthorne in the first round of the tournament, world number 4 Kaplan defeated his opponent and advanced to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, our athlete successfully moved past world number 10 Leandro Pena with a score of 7-6, 6-2, earning the right to play in the semifinals at the Australian Open this year as well, following his success in 2025.

Ahmet Kaplan will face world number 2 Sam Schroder in the semifinal match to be played on Friday, January 30, at 03:00. The match will be broadcast live on HBO Max Türkiye. The national tennis player was defeated by Schroder, whom he also faced in the Australian Open semifinals last year. This time, Kaplan aims to get past his opponent and advance to the final.
