Year-End Evaluation and New Year Message from Turkish Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil

31 December 2025

Year-End Evaluation and New Year Message from Turkish Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil

Our precious tennis family, Our esteemed athletes, clubs, coaches, referees, and dear tennis lovers,

As we leave behind a historic year for Turkish tennis, I feel great pride in being a part of this journey. We approached this duty, which we took over on November 11, 2024, not merely as a change of management but as the beginning of a new era in Turkish tennis. Looking back today, we all see together that the steps we have taken, the systems we have structured, and the successes we have achieved verify this vision.

The Türkiye Tennis Move: The Realization of a Vision

The “Türkiye Tennis Move,” which we envisioned based on the high potential of Turkish tennis, began to be implemented as of 2025.

The Türkiye Tennis Move, shaped by the vision of “Tennis for All,” targets a multi-dimensional transformation not only in sporting success but from infrastructure to education, from governance to digitalization, and from financing to social inclusion. The Türkiye Tennis Move Workshop, which we held in December 2024, was an extremely valuable beginning where we determined the roadmap of this vision and met at the same table with all our stakeholders.

Our fundamental goal in this process was this: To base success not on coincidences, but on a sustainable and measurable system.

Türkiye Has Become One of the World’s Tennis Centers

In the past year, Türkiye has risen to the position of a country that not only trains athletes but also hosts the world's most prestigious tennis organizations.

In a wide geography extending from Antalya to Gaziantep, from Samsun to Ankara; we held organizations at international standards for juniors, professionals, masters, and wheelchair tennis players.

Billie Jean King Cup Junior and Davis Cup Junior Finals, ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championships, BNP Paribas World Team Cup, WTA Megasaray Hotels Open, Samsun Open WTA 125, and many more…

These organizations were not just sports events; they became major projects creating tennis tourism, country promotion, and economic added value.

For the Tennis Europe General Assembly held in Antalya in March, we hosted all member countries.

Furthermore, the Presidency Cup Tennis Tournament, held for the first time this year in age groups under the auspices of the Presidency, was an extremely meaningful milestone for Turkish tennis. Our young athletes competing in a prestigious organization like the Presidency Cup is a very valuable step for the settlement of tennis culture at early ages.

Padel and Pickleball: New Horizons, New Energies

2025 was a year in which Turkish tennis had a say not only on traditional courts but also in racket sports that are rapidly rising in the world. On February 11, 2025, padel and pickleball were officially connected to the Turkish Tennis Federation as sub-branches. Thanks to this comprehensive decision, work was rapidly initiated within our federation for these sports, which attract great interest worldwide, to grow with a stronger infrastructure in Türkiye. The Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF) was officially accepted as a member at the General Assembly of the International Padel Federation (FIP) held in Mexico on November 28, 2025.

In addition to the aspects of Padel and pickleball that bear similarities to tennis, their unique dynamics create widespread excitement and participation in every age group. This new structuring has the potential to contribute to the development not only of tennis but of all racket sports.

Historic Sporting Achievements

This year, Turkish tennis rewrote its history on the court.

Our Senior National Women's Team completed its group as the leader by surpassing strong rivals like France and Sweden in the Billie Jean King Cup in April and advanced to the World Group Play-Offs for the first time in our history. Competing in the World Group Play-Offs for the first time in our history in November, our nationals achieved great success by defeating the host Germany. Our team, which lost to Belgium in the last match of the group, will continue its struggle in Europe/Africa Group I in 2026.

Our Senior National Men's Team maintained its stable power by preserving its place in World Group I in the Davis Cup. Our nationals will compete against Slovenia in the World Group I Play-Offs in February 2026.

Our Junior National Teams showed once again how bright the future is with the degrees they achieved consecutively in the European Summer Cups.

Our 16 & Under Boys' National Team achieving fourth place in the world for the first time in our history is a concrete indicator that our infrastructure is getting stronger.

Individual achievements were also the most valuable parts of this great picture.

Ms. Zeynep Sönmez breaking new ground in Turkish tennis history by advancing to the third round at Wimbledon, Mr. Ahmet Kaplan’s historic degrees in the Quad category at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and the successes of our young athletes in the Junior Masters, Grand Slams, and European championships gave us all great pride.

In the last year, our athletes achieved 180 championships and 222 runner-up finishes; our federation organized 518 tournaments. These figures are a strong indicator of the effort and belief on the field.

Education, Infrastructure, and Digital Transformation

We know that the way to build the future of Turkish tennis passes through investing in people and systems.

With this understanding, we have created a strong communication and development network covering all our stakeholders on the field, from coach trainings to health seminars, and from provincial representative meetings to club gatherings.

While our Ankara and Istanbul Tennis Training Centers have become the new centers of Turkish tennis in terms of accessibility and quality; the digital transformation process initiated with the i-kort platform has opened the door to a new era supported by artificial intelligence in Turkish tennis. The digital court rental system implemented under the sponsorship of PFM and the additional digital services offered under the sponsorship of Tennos have increased accessibility to tennis for tennis lovers.

Financial Sustainability, Sponsorship, and Trust

First of all, with the power we receive from our Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye and with both administrative and financial support, we are working with all our might to popularize the sport and culture of tennis in our country and to introduce and structure the padel and pickleball branches newly added to our body.

We believe that strong and long-term collaborations are of vital importance for Turkish tennis to brand itself and attain a sustainable success structure.

In this direction, we signed a very valuable collaboration with Türkiye İş Bankası, which has undertaken the main sponsorship of the Turkish Tennis Federation starting from 2026. This strategic partnership is an extremely important step for Turkish tennis in terms of spreading tennis across the country, introducing more children to tennis, and reaching athletes with high success potential at earlier ages.

Within the scope of this cooperation we realized with İş Bankası; It is planned to restructure the Tennis League, support athlete development, increase coach quality, and provide tennis equipment support to schools through the “Let's Go to Tennis” (Haydi Tenise) project. We aim to deliver tennis to every segment of society, especially in our regions with limited means and greater need for support.

At the same time, the TTF Support for Tennis Variable Fund, which we implemented together with İş Portföy, is a historic step strengthening the financial sustainability of this vision as the first and only sports fund established with a federation partnership in Türkiye. This fund is a strategic investment made in the future of Turkish tennis with a transparent, accountable, and long-term development understanding.

Gold Award from the ITF

2025 was a year in which Turkish tennis was appreciated in the international arena not only for its sporting achievements but also for its values and governance understanding. Within the scope of the Advantage All Awards given by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), we were very proud to be deemed worthy of the Gold Award as the Turkish Tennis Federation.

This award is a strong confirmation of our approach that supports access to tennis for every girl and every woman, regardless of their background, means, or conditions, and centers on women's empowerment and inclusivity.

We Achieved Together, We Will Achieve Together

Dear tennis family,

Behind these successes lie great effort, faith, and togetherness. None of this would have been possible without the sweat of our athletes, the labor of our coaches, the sacrifice of our clubs, the dedication of our referees, and the support of our sponsors.

2025 will be a milestone for Turkish tennis.

We are entering a new year where we will reap the fruits of the foundations we have laid and walk towards greater goals with a stronger system.

With these feelings and thoughts;

I wish for the new year to bring health, hope, and peace to our country and the whole world, and with my belief in the future of Turkish tennis, I wholeheartedly believe that we will experience greater successes all together.

Wishing you a year full of tennis, full of enthusiasm, and full of health and success…

Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil President of the Turkish Tennis Federation
