Turkish Tennis Federation Accepted into FIP Membership
At the General Assembly of the International Padel
Federation (FIP) held in Mexico on November 28, 2025, the Turkish Tennis
Federation (TTF) was officially accepted as a member. Türkiye was represented
at the meeting by TTF Padel Board President Ms. Şöhret Pakiş and TTF Padel
Board Member Mr. Tayfur Özkan. Türkiye took an important step by officially
becoming part of the international governance structure of padel.
The International Padel Federation (FIP) is the worldwide
governing body of the sport of padel, and its primary objective is to develop
and promote padel on a global scale. Today, FIP represents one of the
fastest-growing racquet sport communities in the world with 90 countries, 64
national federations, more than 25 million active players, and over 500,000
federated athletes.
The sport of padel was developed by Enrique Corcuera in
Acapulco, Mexico, in 1969. The creation of the international structure to
govern the sport took place 32 years later. FIP was officially founded in
Madrid under the leadership of the Argentine Padel Association, the Spanish
Padel Association, and the Uruguayan Padel Association. Today, the federation
aims to unite players and national structures from every region of the world
under a single roof and to make padel a recognized sport in all countries.
With the acceptance of the TTF into membership, Türkiye has
gained the right to actively participate in FIP's official tournament
organizations, international ranking system, and development projects. This
decision marks an important turning point for the sport of padel in Türkiye to
attain a more institutional and widespread structure. The TTF's FIP membership
will increase the visibility of the sport of padel in Türkiye, accelerate
infrastructure works, and strengthen the capacity to train professional athletes.
The Turkish Tennis Federation's participation in FIP
supports the increasing popularity of padel across Türkiye and has paved the
way for the country to become an active player on the international padel
scene.
