Our 16 & Under Boys' National Team is Writing History in Chile
Our 16 & Under Boys' National Team has inscribed its
name in the semi-finals by defeating South Korea 2-1 in the Junior Davis Cup
Finals, in which we are competing via direct qualification for the first time
in our history.
Having successfully completed the European Qualifiers and
European Finals and earned the right to participate in the Junior Davis Cup
Finals (Youth World Cup Finals) held in Santiago, the capital of Chile, our 16
& Under Boys' National Team defeated South Korea 2-1 in the quarter-finals
and advanced to the semi-finals.
Coached by Mr. Umut Alptekin and Mr. Taha Erün, our 16 &
Under Boys' National Team consists of Kaan Işık Koşaner, Samim Filiz, and Ziya
Aydın Ayberk. Mr. Necdet Kaya serves as our national team's fitness coach.
Having defeated Japan 2-1 and Ecuador 2-1, and having lost
to Egypt 2-1 in their group, our nationals faced South Korea in the
quarter-finals. In the first match of the series, Samim Filiz was defeated by
Wonmin Kim 6-2, 6-4. Taking the court in the second match, Kaan Işık Koşaner
defeated Min Hyuk Cho 6-2, 6-1, bringing the score to 1-1.
In the doubles match that would determine the winner of the
series, the pair of Kaan Işık Koşaner/Samim Filiz defeated the duo of Dongjae
Kim/Wonmin Kim 6-0, 6-2, putting Türkiye ahead 2-1 and securing the first
semi-final in our history at the Junior Davis Cup Finals.
Our nationals' opponent in the semi-final, which will take
place on Saturday, November 8, will be the United States of America.
