Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement Signed Between the Turkish Tennis Federation and Tennis Australia to Advance the Development of Tennis

A significant step has been taken as part of Türkiye's vision for international development in tennis. The Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF) and Tennis Australia (TA), one of the world's leading tennis organizations, have signed a cooperation agreement (MOU) aimed at promoting the multifaceted development of the sport of tennis.

The cooperation agreement was signed in Lausanne, Switzerland, by Turkish Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil and Tennis Australia's Director of Social Impact, Government and International Relations, Ms. Vicki Reid. This agreement marks the beginning of a sustainable collaboration between the two federations in many key areas, such as player development, regional tennis structures, and the organization of joint tournaments and events.

The International Gallipoli Tennis Tournament is at the Heart of the Cooperation

One of the important initiatives on the joint agenda of both parties is the International Gallipoli Tennis Tournament, designed to bring together young players from both countries through sport to strengthen the historic ties between Türkiye and Australia. The tournament aims to offer young tennis players from both countries the opportunity to compete at a Grand Slam-level facility. In addition to promoting competitive excellence, the event will enhance cultural exchange and strengthen the bonds of friendship between Türkiye and Australia by keeping the memory of the Gallipoli Campaign alive through sport. The two federations are currently working together on plans to host the event at Melbourne Park in Australia.

Key Cooperation Areas

This cooperation will also explore the following opportunities: strengthening the pathways between the two countries through shared expertise in player development, coaching, and performance research; exchanging knowledge on the use of sports science and technology; creating new international playing experiences for developing athletes; and collaborating on initiatives that enhance regional alignment and representation within international tennis structures.

Each project implemented under this cooperation will be guided by a structured implementation plan, which will be coordinated through designated contact points from both federations and regularly evaluated via joint review meetings. The Turkish Tennis Federation remains committed to strengthening international cooperation as part of its long-term vision to enhance the global competitiveness of Turkish tennis.

Turkish Tennis Federation President Ms. Şafak Müderrisgil made the following statements in her assessment of the cooperation agreement:

“This agreement we have signed with Tennis Australia is a concrete reflection of our strategic vision to strengthen the international position of Turkish tennis. We believe that tennis grows not only through sporting success but also through the values of cultural interaction, education, and joint development.

With this cooperation, we aim to open new pathways for our young athletes to gain world-class experience and to increase the sharing of knowledge and experience in many areas, from coaching to performance science.

Furthermore, this joint tournament, which honors the historical significance of Gallipoli, is of great importance in carrying the friendship between our two countries into the future through sport. As the Turkish Tennis Federation, we are determined to advance the global competitiveness of Turkish tennis together with our international partners.”

Tennis Australia's Director of Social Impact, Government and International Relations, Ms. Vicki Reid, noted the following in her statement:

“Tennis is a powerful vehicle for international collaboration, and I am delighted to formalise our cooperation with the Turkish Tennis Federation. Both our organisations are committed to growing the sport, building bridges between communities, and creating meaningful opportunities for young athletes.”
