TTF President Şafak Müderrisgil: “The Presidency Cup is
the pinnacle of this effort”
In her speech at the ceremony, TTF President Şafak
Müderrisgil emphasized that the Presidency Cup was held at the national level
this year and will be organized at the international level next year.
Ms. Müderrisgil stated:
“We are proud and happy to have hosted 396 of our athletes
in 28 different categories, ranging from ages 12 to 80, at the Presidency Cup,
which we opened on October 6, 2025, with the honor of our Vice President, Mr.
Cevdet Yılmaz, and our Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak. We have
already begun our work to ensure that this prestigious tournament, held
nationally this year at our TTF Ankara Tennis Training Center which we
officially opened on August 20, gains an international identity starting next
year. As the Turkish Tennis Federation, within the framework of our 'Tennis for
All' vision, we want everyone who wishes to have access to tennis. In this
sense, we can say that we have achieved our goal of organizing the tournament
in all categories. As a federation, our primary duty is to spread tennis to the
grassroots and establish a tennis culture throughout the country, with the
constant support provided by our Ministry of Youth and Sports. For this
purpose, we launched the 'Let's Go to Tennis' project in all 81 of our
provinces with the Ministry of National Education; we started the 'Tennis
Ambassadors' project for the development of tennis in our provinces; and we
applied to the Capital Markets Board to establish the 'Tennis Fund'.
Furthermore, in the context of sports diplomacy, we signed protocols with
Serbia and Ukraine; protocols to be signed with Spain and Australia are also in
line. We want tennis to be played from Edirne to Kars in our country, and for
every one of our cities to increase its brand value by hosting international
tournaments. However, the Presidency Cup is truly the pinnacle of these
efforts; it is a source of great prestige for us. On this occasion, I want to
once again express that we are grateful to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip
Erdoğan.”
Director General of Sports Services, Prof. Dr. Veli Ozan
Çakır: “The active use of this facility is very gratifying”
Director General of Sports Services, Prof. Dr. Veli Ozan Çakır, stated that the facility is an important investment for Turkish tennis and said: “To see this facility being used so continuously, to see it hosting Turkish tennis, is very gratifying for us. As the President said, we do not look at sports from a single perspective. The Federation's work under Ms. Şafak's presidency is progressing in 100% alignment with our ministry's vision.”
Director General of Personnel and Principles of the
Presidency, Bilal Şentürk: “Our Federation made a very fast start with the
performance they have shown”
Director General of Personnel and Principles of the
Presidency, Bilal Şentürk, gave messages directed at sports and youth:
“My first encounter with tennis was in 2001 in a district of
Sivas, where I lowered a volleyball net to the ground and played that way. At
the point we have reached today, our country's sports infrastructure is at a
very good level. Our Federation has truly made a very fast start with the
performance they have shown. The most important need for our youth is the
development of determined athletes with strong character who will do this job
very well. Occupy your lives with meaningful work; engage in activities that
develop you and that you love doing. In this sense, we are on the right path.”
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Batuhan
Mumcu: “Our youth should grow with sports and art”
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Batuhan Mumcu,
touched upon the importance of young people growing up intertwined with
culture, art, and sports:
“As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan always emphasizes,
raising our youth with sports and art is the most important guarantee of a
strong and self-confident Türkiye. As the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we
continue our work in every field that nurtures the spirit of our youth. I thank
our President for his patronage of this meaningful tournament and everyone who
contributed. Our Federation President, Ms. Şafak, and her team have shown where
the tennis federation can get to in a short time. I believe we will be in much
better places in the process ahead.”
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, President for EU
Affairs, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay: “Tennis and foreign policy require
reflexes”
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and President for EU
Affairs, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, touched upon the similarities between
tennis and diplomacy:
“Tennis and foreign policy converge on this: in a service
shot, the opponent cannot know the direction of the ball; foreign policy is
also shaped by uncertainty and reflexes. In the foreign policy we conduct under
the leadership of our President, we have strong lungs, clear minds, and strong
muscles in the face of uncertainties. In this tournament held under the
patronage of our President, there are no winners or losers. As Nadal said, ‘I
play to compete, not to win.’ With this understanding, I congratulate all
participants.”
