Historic Victory for Zeynep

National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez has advanced to the third round of the WTA 1000 China Open after defeating world number 12, Clara Tauson, in three sets: 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

With this result, Zeynep Sönmez has defeated an opponent ranked in the top 20 for the first time in her career.

In the first round of the WTA 1000 China Open, held in Beijing, Zeynep also earned the title of the first Turkish tennis player to score a "bagel" (a 6-0 set) in a WTA 1000 tournament by defeating Sijia Wei from the host country, 6-2, 6-0.

After a successful performance, Zeynep will face Anastasia Potapova in the third round of the China Open.
