Turkish Tennis Federation Becomes a Partner in the SafeTennis Project
The Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF) has become one of the
partners in the “SafeTennis: Safeguarding in European Tennis: Building a Safer
Future” project, which is funded by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme and
coordinated by the Lithuanian Tennis Union.
The 36-month project aims to develop common policies,
training programs, and digital solutions across Europe, making the safety of
young tennis players a priority.
Priority on the Safety of Young Athletes
The SafeTennis project is an innovative initiative designed
to protect the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of young
athletes. The project's main goal is to create a safe and supportive
environment for all young tennis players.
Standard Policies and Training Programmes
Aiming to address the differences in safeguarding policies
among European tennis federations, the project will develop standardized
training modules for coaches, referees, and club managers. This will ensure the
adoption of a common approach to protecting young athletes.
Digital Safeguarding Hub
Within the scope of SafeTennis, a Digital Safeguarding Hub
will be created, which will include confidential reporting mechanisms,
educational content, and support resources. Through this platform, athletes and
their families will have access to a reliable digital resource they can turn to
when they feel unsafe.
Sustainability and Long-Term Impact
The project aims to create a lasting impact not only during
its funding period but also beyond. The policies and training developed will
become standard practices for the federations and will be integrated into the
coach education curriculum. In this way, SafeTennis will establish a long-term
culture of safety in European tennis.
Project Partners
The SafeTennis project is coordinated by the Lithuanian
Tennis Union and is being carried out in partnership with the Turkish Tennis
Federation, as well as the Romanian Tennis Federation, the Hungarian Tennis
Federation, The Hague University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), and
Collective Innovation (Norway).
Contribution to EU Priorities
While the project contributes to Europe's digital
transformation, it also supports the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
