Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Turkish and Serbian Tennis Federations
The Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF) and the Serbian Tennis
Federation (TSS) have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement to support
the international development of tennis. With the Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU), which will be valid until November 2028, a multifaceted partnership will
be implemented between the two countries, involving the sharing of knowledge,
experience, and best practices in the field of tennis.
The protocol ceremony for the cooperation agreement took
place in Niš, Serbia, where the Davis Cup Türkiye-Serbia World Group I match was
held, with the participation of Turkish Tennis Federation President Şafak
Müderrisgil and Serbian Tennis Federation President Goran Djokovic.
Within the scope of the agreement, the development of
coaching methodologies is targeted through the organization of mutual exchange
programs, seminars, and training programs for Turkish and Serbian coaches. At
the same time, young and talented players from both countries will come
together in joint camps to participate in high-performance programs, gaining
the opportunity to acquire international experience and the chance to
participate in intensive training periods at the partner country's national team
camps.
The cooperation will not be limited to high-level athlete
development but will also focus on spreading the culture of tennis to the
grassroots level. It is planned to share examples like the "Let's Go to
Tennis" project carried out by the Turkish Tennis Federation, develop new
projects to introduce tennis to children and youth in schools and communities,
and adapt and implement these models to the conditions of both countries.
The federations will also organize training programs and
seminars for young athletes, coaches, and referees that promote ethical
behavior and positive attitudes, emphasizing the values of fair play and
sportsmanship. Through this, it is aimed to more strongly establish the
principles of respect, honesty, and sportsmanship on and off the court.
Another important dimension of the agreement is
institutional governance and digital transformation. While the sharing of best
practices in areas such as national team management, tournament organization,
club development, and athlete registration systems is foreseen, the
administrative staff of both federations will exchange experiences through
mutual visits. In addition, joint studies will be carried out on the use of
digital solutions and innovative technologies that will facilitate the service
delivery of the federations.
TTF President Şafak Müderrisgil stated the following in his
assessment at the protocol ceremony:
"This cooperation will not only open new horizons for
our athletes but will also enrich the tennis culture of both countries. With
our joint projects, we will contribute to the development of our coaches and
players, and we will more effectively bring sports to the younger generations
through fair play, ethical values, and social projects."
Serbian Tennis Federation President Goran Djokovic included
the following statements in his speech:
“As the Serbian Tennis Federation, we are extremely happy to
host the Turkish national team here, and we are also pleased that we will reach
a new cooperation agreement. We will cooperate in all areas of tennis. As
Serbia, we are a small country, but we have good athletes and valuable tennis
players. In this sense, we would like to state once again that we are happy to
cooperate.”
With this agreement, valid until November 2028, Türkiye and
Serbia will put forward a vision in tennis that prioritizes not only sporting
success but also ethical values in sports, grassroots participation, and
digital transformation.
