Our National Men's Team Lost 2-0 on the First Day of the Davis Cup
Our National Men's Team lost 2-0 on the first day of the
Davis Cup Türkiye-Serbia World Group I series held in Niš, Serbia.
In the first match of the series, Ergi Kırkın, ranked 479th
in the world, faced Miomir Kecmanovic, ranked 47th in the world. Kecmanovic
defeated Ergi Kırkın 6-2, 6-2 in a match that lasted 1 hour, putting Serbia
ahead 1-0 in the series.
In the second match, Yankı Erel, ranked 433rd in the world,
faced Hamad Medjedovic, ranked 66th in the world. Yankı won the first set 7-6
in a tie-break. Yankı put up a great fight in the second set but failed to
capitalize on five match points on Medjedovic's serve, allowing Medjedovic to
win the second set 7-6 and take the match to a final set. In the final set,
with Medjedovic leading 3-1, Yankı withdrew from the match due to injury. This
result brought Serbia's score to 2-0.
The Davis Cup Türkiye-Serbia series will continue with the
doubles match on Saturday, September 13, starting at 1:00 PM local time.
