Ahmet Kaplan Bows Out in Wimbledon Semifinals
Our national tennis player Ahmet Kaplan bowed out of the tournament after losing to world No.1 Niels Vink of the Netherlands in the semifinals of the Quad category at Wimbledon.
Competing in the semifinals of the Quad wheelchair category at Wimbledon, Ahmet Kaplan achieved a significant milestone in Turkish sports history. Kaplan advanced to the semifinals after defeating Britain's Andy Lapthorne in the quarterfinals. Facing Quad world No.1 Niels Vink of the Netherlands in the semifinal, Kaplan fell 6-1, 6-0, bowing out of the tournament at this stage.
Ahmet Kaplan and Sam Schroder also bowed out in the doubles semifinals at Wimbledon after falling 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 to the pair of Gregory Slade and Donald Ramphadi.
