Our Players Exit in the First Round of the Main Draw at the Wimbledon Junior Championships
In the juniors category of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, our country was represented by Deniz Dilek, Kerem Yılmaz, and Haydar Cem Gökpınar.
Kerem Yılmaz and Haydar Cem Gökpınar entered the tournament through the qualifiers, while Deniz Dilek secured direct entry into the main draw. In the first round of the Wimbledon qualifying matches, Kerem Yılmaz defeated Roshan Santhosh 7-6, 7-5, and Haydar Cem Gökpınar beat Arnav Paparkar 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the final round of the qualifiers. In the final round, Kerem Yılmaz overcame Daniel Jade 6-4, 6-3, and Haydar Cem Gökpınar defeated Luka Talan Lopatic 6-2, 6-1, thereby earning their spots in the main draw.
In the first round of the main draw, Kerem Yılmaz was defeated by No. 5 seed Niels McDonald 6-7, 7-6, 6-4, thus exiting the tournament in singles. Haydar Cem Gökpınar was defeated by Mees Rottgering 6-1, 6-0, while Deniz Dilek fell to Yuhan Wang 7-5, 1-6, 6-4, bringing their singles campaigns to an end. All three of our players will continue to compete in the doubles category at the Wimbledon Junior Championships. Deniz Dilek and her partner Beatrise Zeltina will face Allegra Korpanec Davies/Luna Maria Cinalli, while the pair of Haydar Cem Gökpınar and Kerem Yılmaz will take on Mark Ceban/Cruz Hewitt.
